ALBANY, N.Y. (WKBW) — Governor Cuomo wants to make it easier for movie theatres to serve beer, wine and other alcoholic drinks.

The governor says he wants to make a change to the state's alcoholic beverage control law.

According to his office, this change would make it easier to allow beer and wine sales at movie theatres, along with cider, mead and spirits.

Smaller movie theatres in Western New York, like the Aurora Theatre, are urging lawmakers to make changes as well.

Under current law, movie theatres can only sell alcohol if they have full kitchens and tables inside screening rooms.

Cuomo's office says this change would give craft producers more retail outlets while providing more revenue for theatres.
