If you have a passion for helping people who live in your community, you can do that for a living and get some pretty good benefits too.

Twin City Ambulance, based in Amherst, currently serves the cities of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda, Town of Tonawanda, the city of Lockport, Village of Kenmore, Town of Amherst, Village of Williamsville, Town of Clarence, Town of Newstead, Village of Akron and Grand Island.

The company was locally founded in 1955, starting as a two-ambulance, four-employee operation. It's still run by the founding family to this day. That family philosophy transfers over to an atmosphere where management works in the field. Company managers all have started as EMS professionals and understand the working conditions of day-to-day operations. Even though they may be in administrative work, they still suit up and respond to calls regularly.

Twin City Ambulance is always hiring both full and part time EMT-Paramedics and EMT-Basic positions. Salary depends on experience, but full-time EMTS can make upwards of $27,040 a year, AEMTS and EMT-CCs upwards of $28,600 a year, dispatchers upwards of $30,680 and paramedics upwards of $35,360 a year. Benefits include 100% covered health insurance with no cost to the employee, a retirement plan with company contribution, $10,000 life insurance plan, paid time off and sick time as well as referral fees and a sign-on bonus.

There is not a number of positions the company is hiring for, because the more full-time EMTs and paramedics they can hire, they more ambulances they will be able to put on the road to reduce response times to you.

Twin City Ambulance does not cover the cost of initial certification, but pays for on-the-job training. Many schools in WNY offer an EMT certification course for $700. Growth is also possible within the company, from field work to dispatch to management to graduating from EMT to paramedic.
