BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Our 7 First Alert Weather Team is monitoring the weekend weather very closely. Confidence is growing that the region could see snow, sleet, rain, and strong winds this Saturday and Sunday. A deep area of low pressure will be moving through WNY this weekend and that could make for some very difficult travel across the area. The track of the storm will determine if WNY sees more snow or ends up with lower amounts due to warmer temperatures. New data continues to come in and here is our updated forecast:

Saturday the first round of weather moves in with snow in the morning. This snow could change to sleet and rain late in the day. Right now 1-4l inches of snow expected for all of WNY by late Saturday.

Saturday night the wintry mix changes back to all snow and winds begin to increase.

Sunday we expect snow to continue with lake effect snow south of Buffalo. The combination of fresh snow and strong winds could lead to whiteouts at times on Sunday. Another 1-2" of snow outside of the lake bands. Expect another 3-6" of snow south of Buffalo in the lake effect snow bands.
