BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Winter has reloaded and is ready to blast the region with two rounds of snow.

Round One -THURSDAY

You may want to think about leaving for work early on Thursday.

The switch to snow will happen as the morning commute starts and the snow, wind and cold will continue through the afternoon. Flakes will begin to fade across the area late Thursday afternoon from north to south. However, there will be lingering bands of lake snow north and south of Buffalo.

So how much snow is on the way? By Friday morning, we can expect to see:

  • 1-3 inches of snow in the metro area and the Northtowns.
  • 4-7 inches of snow in the hills of the Southtowns and Wyoming County, as well as the Southern Tier.

Round Two - SATURDAY/SUNDAY

We hope your ready for more winter. Snow will startup again Saturday morning and continue into the afternoon. Snow will switch to a wintry mix of sleet & rain for a few hours Saturday evening as temperatures warm and strong gusty winds sweep across the area.

Expect the gusty winds to arrive shortly after the dinner hour and continue through the night. While not as strong as last weekends wind storm, the gusts could reach 50mph resulting in severely reduced visibilities and whiteouts. The snow will continue into Sunday as temperatures sink into the 20s with wind chills in the single digits for the entire day.
