Tracking some messy weather for Thursday and Friday

Winter Weather Advisory: Niagara and Orleans Counties through 6pm Thursday. Snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain. Expect 2 to 4" of snow and minor ice accumulations.

Winter Weather Advisory: Northern Erie and Genesee Counties through 6pm Thursday. Snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain. Expect 1 to 3" of snow with minor ice accumulations.

Winter Weather Advisory: Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany Counties through 6pm Thursday. Snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain. Expect 1 to 2" of snow with .05" of ice to accumulate.

Winter Storm Watch for all of WNY from 6pm Thursday through 6am Saturday. 4-12"+ of accumulation possible. Highest amounts of snow near Lake Ontario. The watch expires at 6pm Friday for Northern Erie and Niagara Counties.

Snow, sleet and freezing drizzle this morning will continue off and on throughout the day.

Tonight expect snow Buffalo/North with snow and ice across the Southern Tier. Winds will be strong on Friday with snow continuing. 4 to 12" totals across the area with the highest amounts near Lake Ontario and lower amounts across the Southern Tier.

After a quiet start to the month of February things are about to change. We are tracking the next system that is heading toward Western New York.

Colder air returns to the region on Friday and the rain will change to all snow. Depending on how quickly the rain changes to snow will influence our snow totals. Now models are suggesting 4 to 12" of accumulation. The higher snow totals near Lake Ontario with lower amounts for the Southern Tier. More icing expected south of Buffalo. The 7 First Alert Weather Team will continue to monitor.

Thursday:
Noon: Wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain. Temperatures near 30.
5pm: Wintry mix continues with rain likely across the Southern Tier. Temperatures near 32.

Friday:
7am: Snow showers likely. Temperature 25.
5pm: Snow continues, heavy at times. Temperature 25.
