BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — With one week to go until spring, the weather may not be feeling too spring-like for some Western New Yorkers-- but that could change soon.
Looking ahead, the long-range forecast calls for temperatures to be ABOVE normal for March, April, and May.
The best indicator for a long-range forecast is tracking the El Nino/Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Right now the ENSO is neutral. Neutral conditions are forecast to persist for the next several months leading to an above normal temperature outlook for Western New York. The Climate Prediction Center uses a number of dynamic model guidance to create a long range forecast. Right now indicators are all pointing to above normal temperatures this spring.
