Satellite captures great shot of Great Lakes

Take a look at this shot a NASA Satellite (MODIS) took way above the earth's atmosphere as it flew over the Great Lakes on Tuesday!

The shots show a sharp divide between snow to the north and vegetation to the south. If you take a look at Lake Erie, you can see swirls of sedimentation (sand and dirt) along the shorelines (tan colors).

MODIS makes a couple of trips around the globe everyday. MODIS takes shots of the earth to help scientists better understand processes that happen in the oceans, atmosphere and on land.
