A wave of strong storms led to downed trees and power lines across much of Western New York.
The storms left thousands without power in Wyoming and Erie counties Tuesday morning. Crews have been working since the storm moved through to restore power, but many are still waking up in the dark.

The storm also caused some early morning traffic headaches. Part of Route 78 in Wales was shut down into Tuesday morning, as crews were forced to wait until daybreak to clear downed power lines. A power outage in Buffalo also turned a busy intersection into a four-way stop.

Flash flood warnings were in effect for many areas Tuesday night, but strong winds seemed to cause the worst of the damage in Chaffee, where crews were forced to clear downed trees from Savage Road overnight.
