A Snowstorm will be barreling just south of Buffalo poised to paralyze parts of Pennsylvania and the NYC area with more than a foot of heavy snow. Travel will be impacted, and while for many that will not include personal/business travel plans it will cause delays in mail and package deliveries throughout the east coast. Power outages are anticipated and will have an impact on tens of thousands of customers.

The northern edge of the storm will clip our Southern Tier & Northern PA with a few inches of snow Wednesday evening as it strengthens and slides toward the coast. Further north near Buffalo only light snow showers are expected through the day on Wednesday.

The remainder of the work week looks quieter as temperatures slowly trend milder as we hit the weekend. Looking further down the road toward the Christmas holiday... A series of small storms only provide quick shots of light snow, but a larger storm will be brewing in the Great Lakes near Christmas Day with Buffalo getting two chances at a White Christmas.

The first chance will come from the larger storm itself and if that doesn't do the trick enough cold air is forecast to light up the Lake Snow Machine as well. Here at 7 First Alert we'll be watching to see if the Grinch steals the snow or if Mother Nature will provide that quintessential blanket of holiday white.
