BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Cool air over Lake Erie and Lake Ontario will continue to produce cloud cover and lake effect rain showers for the area. A few showers will linger into Saturday.

Scattered rain showers will continue this afternoon with a mix of clouds, some sun and cool temperatures near 50. Most of lake effect remains well south and north of Buffalo. A shot for some showers to move into the city arrives into the early evening.

Mostly cloudy and chillier tonight as temperatures drop into the 30s with a few lingering showers.

Unfortunately, the low-pressure system which had its grip on WNY all week will not loosen up for the day Saturday. Cooler than normal temperatures expected with scattered showers popping up into the afternoon.

Dry air returns to the area on Sunday and dry conditions will persist through Tuesday.
