Goalie Alex Lyon and center Jiri Kulich both left Thursday night's preseason game in Detroit after the Buffalo Sabres fell to the Red Wings 3-2 in overtime.
Coach Lindy Ruff said Lyon sustained an upper body injury but expressed optimism that it is not serious.
Kulich left the bench for precautionary reasons after scoring a second-period goal. He missed most of last season recovering from a blood clot.
