If you’re desperate for a way to get your kids to burn off some energy, the Hula Hoop Lasso Challenge is here to help.

The mom behind Raising Dragons regularly shares unique and fun activity ideas for children. Recently, she published a YouTube video showing how to keep kids entertained by throwing hula hoops around the backyard. The challenge looks high-energy so not only will it wear out your kids, but it will also sneakily ensure that they’re getting some exercise.

So what’s the challenge? First, tie string or thin ropes to some hula hoops in order to create some lassos.  Next, gather all the balls you have that are large enough to be caught by a hula hoop ring and place them around the yard. Then, let them have at it! Basically, your kids have to lasso the balls. Check out this activity in action:

You can make the lasso challenge a full-on competition by having the children get as many balls as possible or by seeing who can get just one the fastest.

This activity is easiest if your yard is flat and at least somewhat spacious.

The Raising Dragons site is a wealth of fun activities for kids! Another one that caught our eye is the pool noodle obstacle course. Lay some flat to be hopped over, and place some rainbow-style to be crawled under:

Such a simple and creative idea! Have the kids compete individually or in teams. Perhaps hand out snacks or stickers for prizes.

Another Raising Dragons video that shares an ingenious way to keep the kids active is the Pool Noodle Frisbee Race. This activity is SO simple we can’t believe we didn’t think of it sooner.

All the kids do is hold a pool noodle upright and place a frisbee on top. Then they race each other, seeing who can balance the frisbee on top of the noodle the longest.

These activities are great ways to get outside and get active while we’re all cooped up indoors!
