USA Hockey loses to Russia in Men's World Quarterfinals

SLOVAKIA (WKBW) — The U.S. men's national hockey team was defeated by Russia in Thursday's quarterfinal game of the 2019 IIHF Men’s World Championship by a score of 4-3.

Russia took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission and the U.S. pulled within a goal in both the second and third periods but the comeback ultimately came up short.

Former Sabre Mikhail Grigorenko scored the fourth and winning goal for Russia.

Buffalo native Patrick Kane was named one of Team USA's Top-3 Players of the Tournament.

The tournament is over for team USA who finishes with a 4-1-0-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record.
