LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — Make it back-to-back Section Vi titles for the Williamsville girls hockey team. The section's no. 2 seed topped no. 4 Kenmore/Grand Island Monday night to win their second straight section title and stay alive in the hunt for a NYS championship

Emma Roland had herself a night scoring all three of Williamsville's goals, including the game-winner in overtime. Vanessa Willick added two assists in the win while goaltender Mia Wendell made 21 saves in net. Izzy Bourgeault and Kaylynn Savoy both scored for KENGI in the loss.

The win advances Williamsville to the 2019-2020 NYSPHSAA Regional Championships this weekend in Lake Placid. Williamsville will take on Section VII champion, Plattsburgh at 8 p.m. Friday in the second of two semifinal games. The winners will play for a championship on Saturday.

Williamsville is looking to repeat as State Champions following a 5-4 win over Skaneateles last season.
