BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The 2020 Section VI soccer season came to an end on Saturday with championship games being held all over the region. Unlike years past, today's title games marked the end of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to social distancing and out of an abundance of caution, typical presentations and ceremonies were skipped; the winners will be presented with their medals in a closed setting at their schools at a later date.

At Williamsville South, Josh Bird scored the lone goal in 2OT to lift the Billies to a 1-0 win and the Boys' A2 title over Lewiston-Porter. Meanwhile at Williamsville East, the Flames and Grand Island kept each other off the scoreboard for 110 minutes. The two schools split the boys' A1 title in a 0-0 draw.

Earlier in the day, Niagara Wheatfield hosted the Hamburg Bulldogs for the Class A1 girls' title. Marisa Rickard put the Falcons on the board first, and senior captain Erin Weir sealed the deal in the 64th minute for a 2-0 win.
