West Seneca East, Cleve-Hill and CSP advance to football state semifinals

Three area high school football teams will play in the state semifinals next weekend after winning their Far West Regional games.

West Seneca East, Cleveland-Hill and Clymer/Sherman/Panama are all one win away from a trip to the State Championship game in their respective classes.

West Seneca East beat Irondequoit 15-8 in Friday night's Class A Far West Regional. Shaun Dolac finished with 137 yards rushing including a touchdown and a strip sack. The Trojans will next play Indian River.

Cleveland-Hill beat Warsaw-Letchworth 54-6 in Friday night's Class C Far West Regional. Aaron Wahler and Javon Thomas combined for six touchdowns and over 300 yards rushing. The Golden Eagles will next play Susquehanna Valley.

CSP beat Alexander 29-6 in Saturday afternoon's Class D Far West Regional. Derek Ecklund ran for 186 yards and a touchdown in the win while also recording an interception on defense. The Wolfpack will next play Tioga.

Lancaster and Cheektowaga, meanwhile, both lost their Far West Regional games. The Legends lost to Aquinas 39-7 while the Warriors lost to Batavia 56-28 .

The state semifinals will be held at Union-Endicott High School next weekend. The winners will advance to the State Finals to be held in Syracuse.
