Three girls hockey teams move on following Section VI Quarterfinals

AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — Four girls hockey teams are still alive in the hunt for a Section VI title. Williamsville, Frontier/Lake Shore/Orchard Park, and Kenmore/Grand Island all won their quarterfinal games on Tuesday to advance to the next round. Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew had a first-round bye and will play their first game later this week.

Williamsville, the no. 2 seed, topped 7th seed Niagara County 9-1. Ellie Schau and Vanessa Willick each had two goals in the win while Mia Wendell made nine saves. Highlights from this game are above this article

FLOP, the no. 3 seed, topped 6th seed Clarence/Amherst/Sweet Home 6-1. Mary Kromer recorded a hat trick in the win while Kerrigan McCarthy made 14 saves.

KENGI, the no. 4 seed, topped 5th seed Hamburg/Eden/West Seneca 5-0. Abigail Blair and Kaylynn Savoy each had two goals in the win while Carolyn Bourgeault made 22 saves in the shutout.

The Section VI semifinals will take place Thursday, January 30th at Northtown Center. The winners will advance to next week's Section VI final.
