Softball: Iroquois, Olean, Chautauqua Lake and North Collins advance to state semfinals

Lancaster comes up short in Class AA game

Williamsville, N.Y. (WKBW) - Four Section VI softball teams are on their way to the state semifinals. Iroquois, Olean, Chautauqua Lake and North Collins all won their Far West Regional games on Saturday to keep their title hopes alive.

*The AA, A and B games were played at Williamsville East while the C and D games were played at Fillmore High School.

In the Class A game, Iroquois beat Mercy 4-1. Brooke Plonka was solid on the mound for the Chiefs as she recorded 13 strikeouts. The Chiefs will now play Mount Sinai in the state semifinals scheduled for Saturday, June 9th. The game will be played at Moreau Recreation Park.

In the Class B game, Olean came back from a 5-2 deficit late in the game to beat Kearney 6-2 in eight innings. Elyse Graham scored the game-winning run on a two-out grounder and first base error. It's their first trip to the state semifinals since 2010. Olean will play Ichabod Crane in the state semifinals scheduled for Saturday, June 9th. The game will be played at Moreau Recreation Park.

In the Class C game, Chautauqua Lake beat Caledonia-Mumford 4-3. They'll play Greenville in the state semifinals scheduled for Saturday, June 9th. The game will be played at Moreau Recreation Park.

In the Class D game, North Collins beat Arkport 9-4. Pitcher Becca Cyrek was the winner on the mound and added three hits at the plate including a home run. North Collins will play Deposit in the state semifinals scheduled for Saturday, June 9th. The game will be played at Moreau Recreational Park.

In the Class AA game Lancaster fell to Victor 3-1.
