BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Six area high school club hockey teams will compete for their respective Championships next Monday, February 24th, at KeyBank Center.

The High School Club Hockey Championships have been taking place for 36 years. The eighteen varsity teams across the area are made up of high school players who are getting another shot to compete outside of the NYSPHSAA Federation teams.

"It's getting bigger every year with the amount of people playing hockey in Western New York and the amount of teams growing, but we wouldn't be able to do it without the Buffalo Sabres helping us and out other sponsors," chairperson Steve Ferrentino said. "It's great for kids who don't make the federation team that can come down and play club hockey and get a chance to play in the arena where the Sabres play."

The schedule for Monday is:
Mixed School Championship - Jamestown vs. Royalton-Hartland/Barker/Medina at 4 p.m.
Large School Championship - Canisius vs. Orchard Park at 6 p.m.
Small School Championship - City Honors/Cardinal O'Hara vs. East Aurora/Holland at 8 p.m.
