BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Low and moderate risk sports will have to wait a little longer to get things going. Section VI announced Tuesday the postponement of boys swimming, rifle, bowling, indoor track, and skiing to the new year with a start date of January 4th.

This is just the latest setback for low and moderate risk sports. After the fall season was delayed, their start date was moved to November 30th, before being delayed again with a new start date of December 14th.

In a press release Section VI President Brett Banker said, “It’s clear to all of us on the committee that pausing at this time is the most responsible act we can take. It is our responsibility to mesh our actions with that of district leaders who are trying desperately to get students back in their buildings in a responsible fashion.”

On November 17th, it was announced high risk sports would be moved to the new year as well with a start date of January 4th. No update has been announced for those sports which include basketball, hockey, wrestling, and competitive cheer.
