Posted

A Medina football player is headed to the Mid-American Conference.

Wide receiver Jalin Cooper signed with Toledo during the early signing period on Wednesday. The Rockets are in the midst of a season where they won the MAC Conference Championship and are set to play in the Dollar General Bowl in Mobile, Alabama on December 23rd.

In a video posted to Twitter by Coach Hellwig, Cooper said, "I picked Toledo because it was a football school first and they have a great reputation," Cooper said. "They just won a MAC Championship so that's a plus and when I went there, the four or five times I did, I just felt at home."

Cooper has been verbally committed to the Rockets since June and had a stellar career with the Mustangs.

According to MaxPreps, Cooper racked up nearly 2,000 all-purpose yards that included 27 touchdowns both in the air and on the ground. On defense, he had 5.5 sacks and 52 tackles.

"I love Medina. It gave me a great opportunity to learn as a person and learn a lot about the community and see different aspects of life coming from Chicago to living in Medina," Cooper said about his time with the Mustangs.

Cooper had numerous Division-I offers that included Army, UB, Syracuse and Washington State.
