MEC, Randolph, and Sherman win Section VI hoops titles

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Middle Early College, Randolph, and Sherman are Section VI boys basketball champions after winning their respective bracket finals on Friday night at Jamestown Community College.

In the C-1 bracket final, no. 1 Middle Early College topped no. 2 Tapestry 73-50 for their 8th Section VI title in 11 years. Jamond Jones had a game-high 28 points for the Kats. With the win, they advance to the Class C Crossover next Tuesday against Randolph. Game time is set for 5:15 p.m.

In the C-2 bracket final, no. 1 Randolph topped no. 2 Holland 49-46 after Branson Morrison hit a game-winning three late in the game. With the win, Randolph advances to the Class C Crossover next Tuesday against Middle Early College. Game time is set for 5:15 p.m.

In the D bracket final, no. 3 Sherman topped no. 4 North Collins 54-40 for their first Section VI title since 2014. Justiss Hannold had a game-high 21 points in the win. The Wildcats advance to the Far West Regional round on Saturday, March 14th at Buffalo State with a 12 p.m. start time.
