AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — A local law firm is challenging New York State's classification of hockey as a "high-risk" sport.
This comes on the same day as New York State announced that high-risk sports like hockey, football, and basketball, can return as soon as February 1st if local health departments allow them.
The petition calls on New York State to classify hockey as a "low-risk" sport like tennis.
The petition claims that there isn't any ascertainable link between playing ice hockey and an increase in COVID-19
cases.
