BARKER, N.Y. (WKBW) — It's not quite home field advantage, but it might as well be. Barker field hockey is staying in Western New York for the state tournament this weekend.

"So to have familiar territory to play, to get to sleep in our own beds, it's good," senior Rachel Hurtgam said.

"You're not off your schedule, you're not eating differently, you're not going to bed later. So that's big for us," head coach Jeff Costello said.

At least year's state tournament at Williamsville North, the Lady Raiders lost their semi-final game 6-0.

"Since the majority of our team has been here before, we're going to be more confident and more calmed down than last year where we were all stressed out," senior Ciara Gregoire said.

Barker plays against Bronxville on Saturday at Alden High School at 11:45 a.m.
