Kenmore West and Lew-Port advance to Section VI small schools semifinals

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Section VI small schools semifinals are set after two more teams punched their tickets Monday night.

Kenmore West, the no. 8 seed, topped no. 3 seed Grand Island 3-1. The Blue Devils took a 2-0 lead in the third after Joseph Collesano and Braden Zeler scored goals. Brian O'Neill scored with less than a minute left in regulation to cut the deficit in half but Dylan Speck grabbed an empty-netter to seal the win. Max Pelino made 18 saves in net for the Blue Devils.

Lew-Port, the no. 4 seed, topped no. 5 West Seneca West 4-3. In a back and forth game, Peter Spameni scored the game-winner for the Lancers in double overtime. Joey Zachary added two goals in the win.

The small schools semifinals will be played on Thursday, February 27th at LECOM HarborCenter.

The schedule is as follows:
#1 Williamsville South vs. #8 Kenmore West at 6:15 p.m.
#2 Starpoint vs. #4 Lew-Port at 8:30 p.m.
