Four teams advance following Section VI boys lacrosse finals

Four boys lacrosse teams are still alive in the hunt for a NYSPHSAA state title.

Lancaster, Hamburg, West Seneca East and Akron all won their Section VI finals on Wednesday to advance to the regional round. The games were held at Williamsville North High School.

In the Class A game, Lancaster beat Orchard Park 12-9 for the program's first ever Section title. Alex Reimer had three goals and three assists in the win.

In the Class B game, Hamburg beat Williamsville East 11-6. Jack Rettig and Spencer Nyhart both had three goals and an assist in the win.

In the Class C game, West Seneca East beat Eden 11-10.

In the Class D game, Akron beat Medina 15-3 for their fifth straight Section title. Owen Hill had four goals and two assists in the win while Donovan Nephew added four goals.

The Far West Regionals will take place on Saturday at All-High Stadium in Buffalo. The schedule is as follows:

  • Class D game: Akron vs. Penn Yan Academy @ 10 a.m.
  • Class A game: Lancaster vs. Penfield @ 12:30 p.m.
  • Class B game: Hamburg vs. Victor @ 3 p.m.
  • Class C game: West Seneca East vs. Geneva @ 5:30 p.m.
