As it turns out, the third time was the charm for Bennett.

After falling short in the Class B and Class C Section VI Championships in each of the last two years, the Tigers were able to win their first title in their third trip to New Era Field, a 28-13 victory in the Class A final over previously undefeated Starpoint.

The Spartans end the season with a 9-1 overall record.  They made their first trip to the sectional final for the first time since 1989.

"I got to really thank the kids because they really put the time in and the hard work in and you know, all the credit should go to them and my coaching staff," Head Coach Steve McDuffie said.

Bennett is the second Buffalo Public School to capture a Sectional title. Starpoint was the first, winning in Class A a year ago.

"We worked really hard in the offseason because we knew we never wanted to feel that pain again.  We finally overcame it and it's great to finally come in here and get a win," running back Isaiah MuDuffie added. "Now we'll get ready for the next game."

McDuffie ran for 143 and score three touchdowns as Bennett improves to 8-2 overall and advanced to face Greece-Athena in the Class A Far West Regional on Nov. 11.

Aaron Chase threw two touchdowns for Starpoint.
