AMHERST, NY (WKBW) — UB tight end Jake Molinich is one of 67 players nationwide who's been named a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, an award that's given to a Division-1 FBS player who begun his career as a walk-on and has "show outstanding performance on the field".
Molinich joined the team in 2016 as a walk-on. In the last two seasons, he's started 17 games and was voted as a team captain. This season, he has one catch for six yards which came in the team's game against Miami (OH).
The finalists and winner of the Burlsworth Trophy will be announced in a virtual ceremony in January.
