As the postseason is set to begin in the Mid-American Conference, the league announced it's all conference team.

UB guard Blake Hamilton was named to the second team, while sophomore Dontay Caruthers was named to the All-Defensive team.  CJ Massinburg was an honorable mention.

Hamilton lead the Bulls in scoring (17.5 ppg) and assists per game (4.5).

Caruthers, who had been credited with helping the Bulls win six straight games behind his stellar defense, has accounted for 58 steals -- tops on the team and third most in the conference.

Nick's Take

Anyone who watched UB played this season knows Hamilton should have been named to the all-conference first team, without question.

Lacking a true point guard, while he struggled in his role as the court general early on in the season, without Hamilton the Bulls aren't even in the conversation to potentially compete for an unprecedented third straight MAC championship.

Can anyone name a more valuable or versatile player in the league?

Hamilton ranks sixth in the MAC in scoring, fifth in assists and is 7th in assist/turnover ratio.  He's the only player in conference to rank in top seven of those respective categories.

Don't get me wrong -- the players named to the first team are excellent selections.

But, considering Hamilton took the reins in Week 1, went through growing pains, improved his own game to help put this team be in prime position to make another championship run, he's deserving of being a first team all selection.
