The University at Buffalo women's basketball team matched its best start in 16 years, defeating Hofstra 74-50 on Saturday to improve to 7-0.
The last time the Bulls went 7-0 to start a season was during the 2000-2001 campaign.
Stephanie Reid and Joanna Smith each scored 16 points a piece in the victory, while Grand Island native Cassie Oursler added 14 points and six rebounds.

Tied at 21 midway through the second quarter, UB used an 11-4 run to open up a 32-25 half time lead.
In the third, the Bulls lead would balloon out to 14 with 2:26 to play.
After Hofstra closed to within seven with 9:48 to play in regulation, UB kicked things into high gear with Smith and Reid combining to score eight straight points and open up a 55-43 lead and never looked back.

Buffalo will look to move to 8-0 when they travel to play Big 4 foe Canisius on Thursday, Dec. 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
