AMHERST, NY (WKBW) — For the third time in program history, the University at Buffalo football team will be playing in the Mid-American Conference Championship.

The Bulls officially clinched the MAC East title, despite having their game against Ohio declared a "no-contest". Heading into the final weekend of play, the Bulls have a 4-0 record, one game ahead of Kent State, who they beat earlier in the season. The Golden Flashes also had their game canceled over the weekend.

The Bulls will play the winner of Saturday's game between Western Michigan and Ball State in the MAC Championship game. The game is scheduled for December 18th at 7:30 p.m. at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

The Bulls have made two other appearances in the MAC Championship, once in 2008 where they beat Ball State, and another in 2018 where they lost to Northern Illinois.

UB wraps up the regular season this Saturday when they take on Akron at UB Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
