The last time the schools played was during the 2001 season, with the Orange defeating the Bulls 83-62.
After back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2015 and 2016, the Bulls missed out of the postseason after falling in the Mid-American Conference semifinals.
Syracuse advanced to the NIT this past season, and lost in the second round to Ole Miss. They've made the NCAA Tournament 38 times, including a Final Four run in 2016.
