Niagara women top Monmouth, Canisius falls to Manhattan in Thursday night games

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Metro Atlantic Tournament is a few weeks away and the Niagara and Canisius women are both trying to pick up a few more wins before the postseason begins. Niagara took care of business Thursday night while Canisius dropped another conference game.

The Purple Eagles topped Monmouth 62-61 to advance to 7-9 in conference play. Emerald Ekpiteta led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds while Maggie McIntyre added 12 in the win.

The Golden Griffs, meanwhile, fell to Manhattan 63-56 to fall to 2-13 in conference play. AJ Timbers had 16 points in the loss while D'jhai Patterson-Ricks was close behind with 14.

The two teams will trade opponents when each hits their home court again on Saturday.
