BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Starting in Fall 2020, Medaille College will be home to a women's field hockey team, becoming the 19th sponsored sport at the College.

"The field hockey team will add tremendously to the strength and culture of our athletic department in addition to the overall Medaille community," Director of Athletics Susan Roarke said in a statement. "We are looking forward to providing an opportunity for high school field hockey players in Western New York, in addition to other regions, to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level."

The program will start its inaugural season in 2020-21 as a club sport and will afterward become a fully sponsored NCAA sport. A national search for a head coach is underway.
