Make it a sweep! UB football picks up three MAC East honors following win over Akron

AMHERST, NY (WKBW) — Following a 56-7 win over Akron on Saturday, the UB football team picked up Mid-American Conference East awards in all three phases of the game, a first for the program.

Running back Kevin Marks won the offensive player of the week after rushing for 182 yards [a career best] and two touchdowns. He only carried the ball 15 times, for an average of 12.1 yards per carry.

Defensive tackle Eddie Wilson was named the defensive player of the week after recording three tackles and a sack. He and the rest of the D-line held Akron to just 92 rushing yards and 204 total yards of offense.

Safety Tyrone Hill was named the special teams player of the week, becoming the first ever UB player to return a blocked field goal for a touchdown. His play totaled 63-yards.

UB will play Ball State this weekend in the MAC Championship. The game is set for Friday at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
