BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference will be allowing fans at their postseason basketball tournament, primarily "friends and families" of the participating programs. Schools that make up the MAAC include Canisius College and Niagara University.

Capacity will be reduced and follow the current New York State guidelines. All attendees have to wear a face mask covering and stay socially distant with other fans in attendance.

"This is a significant first step in the return to athletic competition in New Jersey and the MAAC membership is pleased to be the first event in Boardwalk Hall since last March when the pandemic abruptly shut down March Madness," Rich Ensor, MAAC Commissioner said in a press release. "For most MAAC basketball fans we offer the promise that in 2022 the conference expects full normalization of operations at the championships including the Fan Fest and the many schoolchildren related activities that were planned for the Atlantic City community last year."

The MAAC Championships will be held March 8-13 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
