A few months back, The Hilbert College women's basketball team was picked to finish 7th in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Coaches Preseason Poll.

This weekend, they proved voters wrong and not just finished first in the Conference but earned an automatic bid to the NCAA D-III Tournament, a program first.

On Sunday afternoon, the top seed Hawks beat 2nd seed Mt. Aloysius 76-52 in the AMCC Championship game. The game was played on Hilbert's campus.

Kelsi Ebert led the Hawks with 24 points and was 50% from the field. Ashley Repine added 21 points and 12 rebounds in the win while four other players landed in the scoring column.

With the win, Hilbert picked up their 21st win on the season, improving to a 21-6 overall record.

The 2018 NCAA D-III Women's Basketball Committee will announce the 64-team field for the Basketball Championship on Monday at 2:30pm.
