The latest chapter in the Battle of the Bridge rivalry will be hard to top.
The seventh-seeded Canisius men’s basketball team beat tenth-seeded Niagara 102-97 in triple overtime in the first round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday.
Golden Griffins forward Phil Valenti scored a game-high and career-high 33 points. He also chipped in with nine rebounds.
Emile Blackman paced the Purple Eagles with 26 points.
Canisius (14-18 overall) advances to the MAAC quarterfinals to face second-seeded Iona on Friday at 9:30 p.m.
Niagara’s season comes to an end with a 7-25 overall record.
