BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — The East Coast Conference has provided an update when it comes to competition for a few different sports teams.

Pending approval, men's and women's basketball will begin playing on January 9th, 2021 with a full 18-game schedule. The Championship is still set to take place in early March and will be expanded to eight teams.

"This plan for basketball beginning in January was developed with the health and safety of team members and coaches as our top priority," said ECC Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff in a press release. "We continue to watch the impact that COVID-19 is having on-campus communities, the region, and all around the country, and know there will be more challenges to come for us to provide a positive experience for all ECC student-athletes."

Meanwhile men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball saw their seasons moved to the Spring. The plan is for those seasons to begin the week of March 8th with Championships taking place the weekends of April 10-11 for volleyball and April 17-18 for soccer teams.
