The Metro Atlantic regular season did not end the way Canisius and Niagara were hoping on Sunday.
The Griffs dropped a 72-65 contest to St. Peter's, a third straight loss as they finish 17-14 and 10-10 in conference action.
In his final regular season games, senior Keifer Douse scored nine points, while fellow senior Phil Valenti tallied 11.
Jermaine Crumpton led the Griffs with 14.
The Purple Eagles took a 46-44 lead late in the second half against Fairfield, but the Stags stole the show with a 62-58 victory. Niagara ends the season on a five game losing streak and with a 9-22 overall mark, 6-14 record in league play.
Senior Maurice Taylor had just two points in his final home game. Marvin Prochet led Niagara with 22.
Both squads now prepare for the MAAC Tournament, which takes place March 2-6 in Albany.
