Canisius men advance to semifinals in MAAC Tournament

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — One MAAC team is still alive in the hunt for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Canisius men, the 2nd seed in the MAAC Tournament, topped 7th seed Manhattan 69-65 in overtime Friday night.

Jibreel Faulkner led the Golden Griffs with 20 points, eight of those were scored in the overtime period. Jalanni White added 16 points while Takal Molson finished with 15. Next up for the Griffs is their semifinal game on Sunday with the winner advancing to Monday night's championship.

The Canisius women, meanwhile, fell to Monmouth 64-53 in a four-five seeded match-up. The Griffs and Hawks began the fourth quarter in a tie until Monmouth wound up pulling away. D. Patterson was the lone Griffs ending in double figures, scoring 13 of their points. The Griffs are 11-18 on the season.

The Niagara teams (men and women) fell in their first round games on Thrusday evening.
