BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — It was a hard-fought finish but in the end, the St. Bonaventure men's basketball team couldn't hit a last-second shot. The Bonnies, the 4th seed in the A10 Tournament, fell to 6th seed St. Louis 55-53 on Sunday afternoon, coming up short of an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Bonnies led St. Louis 34-25 at the half, but found themselves trailing with 6:58 left in the game. Courtney Stockard hit a late three to make it a two-point game with :58 left in regulation and then Osun Osunniyi grabbed a defensive rebound off a missed St. Louis free throw to keep things alive. Nelson Kaputo put up a last-second three pointer but it was no good, ending their chances of holding the A10 title trophy.
Courtney Stockard led the Bonnies with 22 points while LaDarien Griffin added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bonnies are 18-16 on the season and could still make the NIT or CBI postseason Tournament.
