BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo native Chad Kelly is getting another shot in the NFL. The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that they have signed Kelly following a rookie minicamp tryout.

Kelly was taken in the 7th round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos but missed his first season after he was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list following offseason wrist surgery. He saw his first action on the NFL field in week 6 of the 2018 season. Shortly after, he was released by the team mid-season last year after an arrest for trespassing. He pled guilty two months ago to a misdemeanor criminal trespassing charge.
Kelly is the nephew of former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly. Jim sent out a congratulatory message over Twitter shortly after the news.
Congrats on the recent signing of my nephew and Godson Chad Kelly to the Indianapolis Colts. I know he has been through a lot and has made some mistakes in his life but I’ve spent some quality time with him the last… https://t.co/t2JzOVbX3e— Jim Kelly (@JimKelly1212) May 20, 2019
Kelly joins three other quarterbacks on the Colts roster.
