TORONTO (WKBW) — Following a surprise playoff appearance and playing their home games in Buffalo, two members of the Toronto Blue Jays were nominated for MLB awards.
Blue Jays pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu and Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo were each nominated for awards.
Ryu in his first season with the Blue Jays was nominated for the American League Cy Young Award for best pitcher.
The pitcher was fourth in the American League in ERA with 2.69, tied for ninth in strike outs and tied for 12th in wins.
Charlie Montoyo was nominated for American League Manager of the Year, propelling the Blue Jays to their first playoff appearance in four years.
