Fans inside KeyBank Center are used to slow starts on gamedays...from the Sabres...not the Bandits.

After leading the National Lacrosse League with 251 goals a season ago, the Bandits' offense was quiet for the better part of three quarters in a 12-8 loss in their season opener to Colorado on Friday.

Buffalo trailed 3-0 after the first period and never recovered, despite a four goal effort in the fourth quarter.

Ryan Benesch led the Bandits with three goals and two assists.

After setting a franchise and league record with 72 goals and 137 points, Dhane Smith was held scoreless despite 11 shots on goal. He tallied three assists.

After giving up three straight goals to open the third quarter, netminder Anthony Cosmo was yanked in favor of Davide DiRuscio.

The Bandits return to action Jan. 13 when they host the Georgia Swarm.
