ST. CATHARINES, On. — It's the little details that can make big things happen. Doug Buchan is using that to his advantage for the Buffalo Bandits.

"I watch video of all the shooters that we play against," Buchan said. "I can see tendencies in players and I use this to help back up and reassure what I'm seeing."

Buchan tracks hockey analytics for Stathlete during the week. What he does for himself in lacrosse is much simpler than what he does for work.

"It's just so time consuming to track every single shot," Buchan said.

He hopes to combine his spreadsheets with fellow goalie Matt Vinc's hard copy notes on his opponents. Between the two of them, they could have nearly a decade of tendencies across the entire NLL.

"That kind of brings the excitement of doing this whole database," Buchan said. "It's a chess match."
