LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — Typical movie theaters as we know them still have a while before reopening. But Transit Drive-In opened their 2020 season earlier than usual on Friday. The plan, and features, were announced earlier this week.

"When I heard that it was going to be open on Friday, I said, 'well, I have to go,'" Ivy Yapelli said. "Honestly, I didn't really care what was playing. I just wanted to get out of the house."

The reopening comes with a myriad of social distancing measures: Tickets can only be purchased in advance online. Cars need to park six feet apart. Anyone that leaves their vehicle to walk around, go to the bathroom, or go to the snack bar has to wear a mask.

"There's got to be a lot of rules and restrictions, which we understand," Merry Lyn Green said. "We're going to just sit in our car, watch a movie, and be off our couch for tonight."

Transit Drive-In will be playing The Invisible Man and Trolls: World Tour all week.
