AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — As we start to return to normalcy, a number of our favorite WNY staples are re-opening. You can now add Chef's to that list.

"It's been stressful, you know, just not knowing what's ahead of us...[but] we're very excited to be back," said MaryBeth Billittier, Co-Owner of the restaurant.

Owners closed the 97-year-old mainstay at the beginning of April because of COVID-19. After more than one month, they took to Facebook to announce their return.

"We watched the plateau and had a group come in and sanitize, deep clean, fog, so we feel confident," said Billittier.

For now, only the On The Go location in Amherst is open, owners expect the Downtown location to open once they receive the green light from the state. They've also made a few changes.

  • Hours have changed to 3-8pm
  • You don't have to leave your car, just order ahead and drive up
  • You can now order on their new app

"We were here, we ordered online beforehand and as soon as we were done with work we were right here," said Richard of Amherst, a longtime Chef's customer.

The app launched the same day the restaurant re-opened, on May 18 at 3pm and by 4pm, the line of cars went out into the street.

"The reaction has been wonderful, the phones have been ringing already" said Billittier.

They're open for takeout Monday-Saturday from 3-8 at 5483 Sheridan Dr, Williamsville, NY 14221. You can order online here.
