Alumni hall at Canisius High School is lined with photos of thousands of graduates, but it's been missing one for more than 72 years.

Ladislaus "Walter" Kostrzewski completed all of his credits to graduate in 1944, but was drafted to serve in World War II before he could walk the stage with his graduating classmates. He was subsequently left out of his class photo.

Today, Canisius High School unveiled a new class photo, with Walter's military identification added right in the middle.

"It's really terrific, three generations of our family have had graduates here, Uncle Wally being the first and it's really great to have his place in alumni history here," said David Kostrzewski, Walter's nephew.

The remastered 1944 class photo was hung in Alumni Hall, with Walter's family and friends in attendance.

"It started here, it continues right on," said Walter, in reaction to finally joining his classmates.
