Work complete at Grand Island wildlife area

Four new outdoor access projects across the state are complete, including one in Grand Island.

The nearly $450,000 in upgrades are part of a larger effort by Governor Andrew Cuomo to expand recreational opportunities in boost tourism in New York State. Construction has started on all 50 sites being upgraded, with nearly 20 of them finished.

Four sites were just recently completed, including the Spicer Creek Wildlife Management Area in the Town of Grand Island, a $81,500 investment.

As part of this project, the area added a second accessible hunting blind/observation deck as well as a 1,300-foot accessible trail to the shoreline blind on the Niagara River.
